AJ Mathews grew up in Bellingham, WA where he played 3 years of varsity baseball at Sehome High School before continuing on to play at the collegiate level for both Wenatchee Valley CC and the Bellingham Bells. After playing baseball and graduating from WSU with a degree in Kinesiology, AJ promptly started his coaching career and has since then worked as both a physical education teacher, and a functional training specialist at Inside Pitch.

AJ has coached a total of 5 years at both Evergreen and Bellingham High School as a Head Coach. During the offseason, AJ has been able to keep up his athletes by being apart of the Cascade Crush Baseball Club where he has coached the 18U, 16U, and 13U baseball teams. He currently teaches P.E. at Lucille Umbarger Elementary, as well as being an assistant baseball coach at Burlington-Edison High School where he strives to give players the tools to be successful both on the field, and in the future.
